The CRA has terminated the employment of more than 200 people for falsely applying for and receiving CERB benefits during the pandemic.
CERB was an emergency benefit brought in to provide Canadians who had lost their income because of pandemic-related health emergency shut-downs with $2000 dollars a month to keep them going.
The benefit was not intended for those whose work or income was not affected at that time.
The Canada Revenue Agency says as of March 15, 232 CRA employees had inappropriately applied for, and received the benefit.
Fired employees must repay the funds.
