NL Health Services will be implementing a new health information system for the entire province.
The organization says it marks the beginning of the largest digital health system to be undertaken in Newfoundland and Labrador.
The project will introduce modernized software to replace various applications and systems used in acute and long-term care areas.
NL Health Services CEO David Diamond says the adoption of the new system is a major change across NL’s health care sector, and will help improve health outcomes of residents.
The new system, which was recommended by Health Accord NL, will modernize the organization’s information technology infrastructure and establish consistent practices across the province, which NLHS says will make the delivery of services more efficient.
Minister Tom Osborne says the new technology will benefit both providers and patients by ensuring that they have the most up-to-date records.
