Two people on the west coast have been charged with drug trafficking after cash and drugs were seized during separate traffic stops.
Last Friday, a member of Corner Brook RCMP noticed suspicious activity between two vehicles.
Then, as part of an ongoing investigation involving RCMP-RNC Joint Forces Operation West, the two vehicles were separately pulled over.
They say when 32-year old Alicia Gilbert of Humber Valley Resort was stopped, she was found to be in possession of $3,000 cash. When 29-year-old Jonathan Park of Corner Brook was pulled over, they say he had about four ounces of cocaine in his possession.
A further search of the woman’s home turned up an additional four ounces of cocaine, an ounce of suspected crystal meth, thousands of dollars in cash, packaging materials, and other items consistent with drug trafficking.
Gilbert is facing charges of trafficking cocaine, possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine, and possession for the purpose of trafficking methamphetamine. Park is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking cocaine.
Both of the accused will appear in court at a later date.
