It took RNC officers a while but they finally caught up with a man who lead them on a chase through a wooded boggy area of Conception Bay South.
The owner of a garage called the RNC at about 8:30 p.m. yesterday to report that a vehicle had been stolen from his property. Police set up various checkpoints in a wooded area near the pole line and spotted the vehicle driving on an unpaved section. They flashed the lights on the truck but it continued on, becoming stuck in a bog.
Not ready yet to accept his fate, the 37-year-old driver tried to run for it. Police caught up with him after a brief foot chase.
The man faces charges of possession of property obtained by crime, flight from police, dangerous operation of a conveyance as well as breach of a release order. Police say the man is also facing multiple charges on other matters currently under investigation.
The man was taken to the lockup for a court appearance this morning.
