The Newfoundland and Labrador Alliance for the Control of Tobacco says some children are trying vaping at a very young age.
The organization is introducing new Nicotine Expose Kits for students that can be used in grades 7 to 10.
They call the use of vaping products a “crisis” among young people, noting that NL has the highest rates of usage in the country.
Program and Education Coordinator Melissa Moore says getting the message out is important, especially considering the highly addictive nature of nicotine.
She states that there are gaps in the education system, and kids are trying such products at a young age.
Moore says they have heard from some schools in the province that they are confiscating them from kids in grade 4.
