A Massachusetts college student has pleaded guilty to stealing the private data of millions of students and teachers who used the the PowerSchool program.
The provincial government has revealed that the data of nearly 271,000 students and 14,000 teachers was breached in December.
The program is used to access marks and assignments, and is also the go-between for fees paid by parents for field trips and sports tournaments.
Education Minster Bernard Davis wouldn’t say yesterday in the House of Assembly how much information was retrieved during the breach. Instead, he made note of free cyber security programs offered by the province.
