This is the time of year when young bats are learning to fly and hunt at night, so bat sightings may become more common in the coming days.
The government department responsible for wildlife says when dawn breaks, young bats may not always be able to find a suitable hiding place to roost for the day.
People should watch for resting bats and give them space.
Wildlife officials say one should never attempt to touch or handle a bat, and if visiting the Salmonier Nature Park, report any bat sightings to staff.
