A CBS man jumped into action to help save a young girl struggling in the water on the Manuels River on the weekend.
Ian MacDonald was visiting the popular swimming spot on the weekend with his family when he heard a woman scream.
MacDonald says he saw a child caught in a strong eddy among the rocks, and saw her head go under the water. He says the mother couldn’t get to the child and he jumped in to reach her.
“As her mom was trying to swim up to her, and couldn’t reach her, I swam up. I tried to reach her, but couldn’t. Then I hopped up on the rock next to it, leaned over and grabbed her life vest she was wearing, and pulled her out of the trap.”
Trysten Vincent took to Facebook to thank MacDonald for his heroic action. She says she “can’t imagine what another minute would have done” were he not there to help.
MacDonald says he didn’t even have time to think about what was happening, he just acted.
“It was all instinct…I just saw a little girl going there and I jumped up and did what I could.”
