Sweltering heat will take hold across many areas of the province this weekend, and the provincial government says there are mechanisms in place to protect those out battling forest fires.
It is going to be a hot weekend with temperatures in the high 20s or low 30s in many areas, prompting heat warnings from Environment Canada.
The gear firefighters wear and use can be quite heavy, and then there’s the physical exertion that comes with the work.
Justice and Public Safety Minister John Haggie says they have support stations set up to provide firefighters with support.
…particularly in terms of hydration and rest areas. As well, Haggie says as part of the Coast Guard response extra trailers will be provided so responders can be rotated in and out.
