Provincial officials say the fire in Conception Bay North showed no growth overnight and an operational assessment shows that the situation is improving every day.

Weather conditions are favourable for ground crews, and aircraft are joining the effort as conditions allow.

Paddy’s Pond fire

The Paddy’s Pond fire is near containment, and ground crews from British Columbia are helping to complete containment on the ground today.

Martin Lake fire

The Martin Lake wildfire “received a good soaking” over the last two days, which helped greatly toward knocking it down. The wildfire is still active however, and ground crews are in the area working on hot spots.

NLHS says operations resuming

Regular operations have resumed at the hospital in Carbonear after some temporary disruptions caused by the wildfire on the Conception Bay North Shore.

Pop-up clinics remain in place, including at the emergency centre set up at Carbonear Academy, and at the Community health Services building on Industrial Crescent.
