The City of St. John’s is increasing its rates for electric vehicle charging stations effective today.

All rates are increasing to $2 per hour from $1.50, except for the charger at the city depot on Blackler Avenue. There, the rate is increasing by $3 to $4.50 per hour.

The city says the rate increases are to help sustain the program by covering the costs of electricity, maintenance and operations, while also saving up some funds for future charger replacements and upgrades.
