Members of CUP-W are no longer delivering flyers as a form of strike action as the ongoing labour dispute continues.
The union is still without a contract, and members made their presence known at MP offices across the country as the House of Commons resumed for the fall sitting.
President of CUP-W Local 126, Mike McDonald says it’s time for Canada Post to negotiate what he calls a “ratifiable” collective agreement.
Canada Post lost more than $400 million in the second quarter of 2025, leading some to question why the union would choose not to deliver flyers, which is a major revenue-generator.
“I always find it interesting as a postal worker that Canada Post gets it out into the media whenever they lose money, but we never heard anything about making money in the first quarter this year,” McDonald told VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly. “That’s something I’d like to see change,” says McDonald, “so people actually get an actual true picture of what’s going on at Canada Post with their finances.” He suggests that its time to call in CRA to conduct an open audit of Canada Post “and the way they spend their money.”
