The search for an elderly dog that had gone missing last week from the Sugar Loaf Trail resulted in a rescue effort for two people last evening.
Tyler, who was deaf and nearly blind, died after falling over an embankment in Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove.
Two people – the dog’s owner and a friend – who were trying to retrieve the animal’s remains became stranded as darkness fell.
Members of the St. John’s Regional Fire Department, the RNC, the Canadian Coast Guard and ground search and rescue personnel were on hand. The pair was rescued and Tyler was recovered.
