The city of Mount Pearl is expected to release a new five-year community well-being and safety plan sometime this month.
The plan came out of public consultations and a review of public safety in the community stemming largely from a series of violent attacks in Mount Pearl just over a year ago.
A number of young people were arrested and charged as a result of the police investigation.
Mayor Dave Aker says the city has already implemented a number of measures to ensure that residents feel safe, and more measures are in the works.
He says the city has set aside $200,000 in this year’s budget to address public safety, but the money has yet to be allocated to specific projects.
