The pre-Kindergarten program for French-speaking students located in the old School for the Deaf on Topsail Road has been temporarily shut down due to heating issues at the school.
Rocher-du-Nord’s Les P’tits Cerfs-Volants pre-Kindergarten program has been temporarily closed because of repeated failures in the heating system that has left the premises unsafe for children and staff.
Le Centre de les petite enfance et familles, which runs the program says it has repeatedly raised concerns with the appropriate authorities about heating problems as well as lighting and snow removal, but a lasting solution has yet to be found.
CPEF Executive Director Karina Lamontagne says without a concrete fix, they have a responsibility to act, and decided to temporarily suspend the program.
She hopes that the necessary repairs will be completed in a timely manner and the program can resume.
