An Iranian living in Newfoundland and Labrador is among those calling for regime change in his native country.
Local Iranians held a protest outside St. John’s city hall on the weekend voicing their support for Prince Reza Pahlavi, the son of the former Shah of Iran who was deposed in 1979.
Protests against the country’s economic situation have expanded into greater dissent and calls to overthrow the current government.
They’ve been met by crackdowns that have killed hundreds and increased tensions between Iran and the United States.
“Sam” told the Tim Power’s Show on VOCM that the majority of Iranians want the current Islamic Republic gone.
“The Iranians, more than 80 per cent of them, are against this regime and want only revolution.”
