The defence has been granted another week before entering pleas in a fatal impaired driving case.
Twenty-year-old Riley White of St. Stephen’s was charged almost a year after the crash which claimed the life of his female passenger.
The 18-year-old was thrown from the vehicle as it left the road, crashed into a ditch and burst into flames. She later died in hospital.
White was saved from the burning wreck by witnesses.
It happened in Portugal Cove South on August 18th, 2024 but White wasn’t charged until June last year after results of blood-alcohol samples came back.
The charges include impaired driving causing death, impaired with a blood alcohol and drug concentration above the limit, as well as crossing a solid line.
The defence says they’re waiting on the answer to one question from the Crown, which should be resolved by the time the case is called again next week.
