It has been a bitterly cold and windy few days in much of the province including the Avalon Peninsula. Wind chills hit minus 50 in Lab West this morning, minus 35 on the Northern Peninsula and it was in the minus twenties on the Avalon yesterday and this morning.
Things are improving this afternoon, but we’re not out of the woods yet as Mother Nature will continue to show this weekend that she is the boss.
Meteorologist David Neil says it won’t be as windy as it was this week, but it will be breezy in much of the province right through the weekend.
“We had a few storms in January where winds gusted to well over 100 km/h but we’re looking at 50-60 km/h this weekend, maybe around 80 on parts of the coast,” says Neil.
