A 22-year-old man has been arrested and charged after a serious incident outside RNC Headquarters this morning.
RNC responded after a man assaulted a civilian employee outside the building around 7:00 this morning.
A responding officer was also injured in the altercation.
The accused refused to cooperate with police during his arrest and attempted to disarm an officer.
Two men suffered injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Jamal Omer is now facing charges of aggravated assault, assaulting a peace officer, uttering threats, resisting arrest and disarming a police officer and was held in custody to appear in court.
Mental health and crisis supports have been offered to staff.
The RNC says a review is underway to explore ways to further strengthen employee safety protocols and enhance security measures to help reduce the risk of similar incidents in future.
