Some challenging driving conditions in and around metro today following yesterday’s storm.
Crews were out throughout the tempest, but after a lull yesterday afternoon, heavier and wetter snow fell in the overnight hours, creating even greater challenges.
In many areas compacted snow has adhered to the pavement creating bumpy and less than ideal driving conditions.
Mayor Danny Breen admits, the second half of the storm was more difficult than the first half.
He says wind was a major factor, causing drifting that made the job of keeping routes open even more labour-intensive.
“We’re continuing today to work through everything” says Breen, “we had upwards of 47 cm throughout the various areas of the city, so our crews continue to work away at it.”
