RCMP seized a quantity of cocaine, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia during a traffic stop near Deer Lake last Friday.
An officer on patrol pulled the vehicle over on the Northern Peninsula Highway with the help of Traffic Services West.
Officers noticed an open container of alcohol and a bag of pills inside the car. The driver and her passenger were arrested, and a search of the passenger led to the seizure of a quantity of suspected cocaine.
Fifty-six-year-old Scott Lavers of Port Saunders was arrested for possession of a controlled substance while the driver – a 43-year-old woman – was released without charge.
