Curler Mark Nichols admits it will take some adjustment after joining Matt Dunstone’s Manitoba rink after decades on Team Gushue.
The long-time third will be playing second after accepting Dunstone’s invitation this week.
Nichols had played with Gushue for the last 27 years before Brad retired at the end of this year’s Brier, and getting used to a new routine will take some time, but he’s looking forward to it.
I wouldn’t say we were super close,” Nichols says of his relationship with Dunstone, “you have conversations on the road between games and stuff like that, but (you) typically stick with your own team.” He told VOCM Open Line “it’ll be completely new for me, in terms of what the guys like, what they don’t like, how they approach the game, and certain routines that they have.” He says “I’m looking forward to getting to know those guys.”
Nichols admits that he was okay knowing he might end up retiring as well, but decided to keep his options open.
He says the offer to join the Dunstone rink was a hard opportunity to pass up.
