Hospitality NL says access to Newfoundland and Labrador remains the number one issue for local tourism operators, but they’re optimistic about the upcoming season.
HNL Chair John Devereaux says people are still interested in visiting Newfoundland and Labrador, but getting here remains a challenge.
He welcomes the development of Route 51 through Quebec to Labrador, and while air and marine access is still difficult, they’re excited about increased interest from overseas.
“We have flights coming from Ireland, England, Paris…they’re full. So, that’s a big contributor to our economy right now, and we’re excited about that. It’s looking like a great season so far….we’re cautiously optimistic I should say.”
