Those in the seal industry say demand for seal products this year is far exceeding that in recent years.
The executive director of the Fur Institute of Canada, Doug Chiasson, says whatever stockpiles harvesters may have had in the past years has whittled down, with demand for seal products on the rise – especially in Canada.
He told VOCM Open Line with guest host Darrin Bent that younger buyers are more open to seal products, and are seeking them out.
He says younger consumers are not buying what he calls “the same old story” from anti-sealing groups.
