A program in St. John’s which helps pet owners with the costs of care for their furry ones opens this week.
The SPCA opens its Spay and Neuter Program (SNAP) on Wednesday for those who need financial help.
The program, which is capped at 100, requires applicants to show proof of income before getting an appointment with a local vet.
The SPCA’s Heather House says anyone who misses the application window can check back later to see if spots are still available.
“The benefit is definitely it’s helping control the pet population,” House said, adding the program also helps pets live longer, healthier lives.
More details can be found on the SPCA’s website.
