Downtown street cleaning in St. John’s starts today as crews rid the roads and sidewalks of sand which has accumulated over the winter.
The job is done from 10:00 at night until 6:00 in the morning, and vehicles have to be removed from the streets during the active period.
The city says it’s the driver’s responsibility to know when their street is being done as signs are not posted.
Cleaning operations continue through spring and summer.
