The cost of getting students to and from school has increased by some 10 per cent for budget 2026-27.
Contracts and tenders for the province’s school bus system jumped from $53.5-million to $60-million from the last budget, primarily due to changes in school bus contracts.
Transportation Minister Barry Petten says new contracts and tenders were primarily to blame for the $6.5-million dollar jump.
It marks the largest jump since budget 2024 when costs went up by over $8-million.
