A statutory review of the province’s Access to Information and Protection of Privacy legislation is about to get underway.
Government has appointed lawyer Keri-Lynn Power to conduct the review.
The access legislation must undergo regular review to ensure that the public has access to government records, while at the same time ensuring that the personal information that the government and public bodies collect, use and disclose is protected.
The province’s ATIPP legislation came into effect in 2005 and was amended in 2012 and 2015.
Power will present her final report and recommendations to government by the end of January 2027.
