A 62-year-old man has been charged after a recent traffic stop on Fogo Island resulted in the seizure of drugs and items consistent with drug trafficking.
RCMP pulled the man’s vehicle over in March near the ferry terminal on Fogo Island.
Officers claim the driver was immediately uncooperative, and open alcohol and unsealed marijuana were observed inside his vehicle.
The driver became combative when ordered out of the vehicle by police and he was arrested for obstruction.
RCMP say a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of quantities of improperly stored cannabis and suspected cocaine, as well as items consistent with drug trafficking.
The man, from Little Seldom, was released to appear in court on the following charges:
– Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
– Driving with open cannabis in the vehicle
– Resisting/obstructing a peace officer
