Two nautical science students from the Marine Institute recently had the opportunity to participate in two major maritime events on the other side of the country.
Maxwell Piercey and Warren Hayden were sponsored to travel to Victoria, BC to participate in the Mari-Tech Conference and the Nautical Institute’s Arctic Conference.
Piercey calls the trip the “experience of a lifetime.”
He says it opened his eyes to the possibility of a career in the Arctic, and seeing that there is a “prosperous” future in the shipping industry.
He says the industry needs young mariners like him.
