Both opposition leaders say they hoped to meet with Premier Tony Wakeham to discuss decorum in the House of Assembly, but have yet to receive a reply.
On Friday, NDP Leader Jim Dinn wrote to Wakeham and Liberal Leader John Hogan, asking for a meeting among the three on decorum.
Hogan replied, but hours later Wakeham issued a news release suggesting government house leaders meet instead.
Dinn cites an issue with the government house leaders meeting, given Lloyd Parrott’s recent ejection from the House of Assembly.
“One of the people who was ejected from the day was the government house leader. So that’s part of the problem, isn’t it? So at this point, I think you do need to have the leaders,” he told reporters
“I know the leader of the official opposition is game for this, is up for almost an immediate response. I’m hoping that the premier says, ‘okay, this is something we should all be part of.'”
Wakeham says all parties have a roll to play in decorum, and that he plans on meeting with the Speaker on the issue.
