A 39-year-old was arrested and drugs were seized after RCMP in Port aux Basques were contacted about a man driving without a valid licence.

Police located the vehicle described last Friday afternoon and pulled it over.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of suspected cocaine, contraband cigarettes, a pistol-style pellet gun and other items consistent with drug trafficking.

The man’s vehicle was also seized.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court in August on charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
