The provincial government has instructed the operator of Horizons 106 not to take in any more people while it works with those in the community on “comprehensive” transition plans for all of the 72 residents currently living in the facility.
The lease on the old Airport Comfort Inn will end around Christmas.
For some tenants, that will mean moving on to independent housing as planned, while for others it will mean being placed in newly renovated NLHC homes and the private market.
Minister Joedy Wall says the full plan will be released soon.
“Anyone who’s at 106 Airport Road, who is going through that program and following the rules and doing what they need to do to ensure that they have a proper transition, we’re going to be there to help them along the way.”
