Sportsnet and CBC have jointly announced that the public broadcaster will no longer air NHL games after the current season.
Sportsnet acquired the rights to Hockey Night in Canada and a suite of NHL games at the start of the 2014-15 season, with Sportsnet producing the games under its own banner, however, CBC had still been airing select games.
The public broadcaster says it plans to launch a new series of sports programming following the success of its coverage of the Milan Olympics.
Hockey Night in Canada had been a staple on CBC television since 1952.
