A new recruitment campaign has been launched to help address an urgent need for more foster families.
Government says there are currently more than 900 children and young people in care across the province, and a critical need for people to step up to provide safe, stable and supportive homes.
Minister Joedy Wall has launched a new Foster a Future campaign to raise awareness about fostering and encourage more residents to consider becoming a foster parent.
He says increasing the compensation for foster families should help to attract more caring homes into the system.
He says government understood the important role foster families play and “we can’t expect them to do that on a budget from 12 years ago.” He’s hopeful that will “spark some new people to step forward.”
