The federal government has pretty much shut the door on new Pharmacare players but Newfoundland and Labrador is ready to talk should Ottawa go back to the original intent of the program.
Four provinces signed on shortly after the federal subsidy on some contraceptives and diabetes drugs came into being, but NL was not one of them.
Now, the Carney Government has publicly said it is not interested in pursuing any new deals but will honour existing ones.
Health Minister Joedy Wall would be interested in sitting down at the table and talking Pharmacare.
However, he says the ball is in Ottawa’s court.
