Efforts are underway to establish a promised MRI in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

Funding for the MRI was announced in this year’s budget and then Minister of Health Lela Evans said in the spring it would open by the end of the year.

Health Minister Joedy Wall says NLHS is still trying to staff the machine, and get it set up.

“The planning is underway for that and the actual work being prepared, being done to house that machine, which is crucial. We’re looking forward to when it comes online, and are discussing the options for staff going into that region to operate the MRI.”
