The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is reminding drivers to be vigilant following accidents involving children on e-scooters on Canada Day.
The first incident happened on Valleyview Drive in Corner Brook just after 11 a.m. An eight-year-old boy riding an e-scooter was struck by a vehicle that was backing up.
Just before 2 p.m. that same day, a 13-year-old boy was struck while riding his scooter across the road on Park Avenue in Mount Pearl.
Both boys suffered minor injuries.
Drivers are being reminded to reduce their speeds, especially around playgrounds, to watch out for pedestrians and cyclists, and to keep their phones out of arm’s reach.
For those using bikes, scooters, and motorcycles, they are reminded to wear a helmet and bright-coloured or reflective clothing.
