A councilor who was temporarily deposed is back in his chair at City Hall today.
Tom Davis, who represents ward 4, was suspended for a month by council for violating the Code of Conduct.
Councillor Davis immediately ruffled more feathers by speaking publicly about the situation in contravention of the advice given to the rest of council.
He told VOCM Open Line with host Darrin Bent that, in future, he will work on giving things a pause before he lets people know what he’s thinking.
“It was never personal for me but there will definitely be a pause and, whenever I’m speaking, it will be made clear that it’s not about an individual but a challenge which has been identified,” says Davis.
As for going public, he says there was a lot of misinformation being spread so he has no regrets about clarifying the situation.
“I think the process was very destructive,” says Davis. “I called for restorative justice from the outset where everybody gets in a room and talks things out but that still hasn’t happened.”
