Smoke from the wildfires in western Labrador is still on Environment Canada’s radar, but the fallout does not appear to be as heavy as meteorologists had thought it might be.
There could be a period of poor air quality tonight though, as northerly winds push down smoke from distant wildfires in Quebec.
David Neil of the Gander Weather Office says people may have to, at times, limit their time outdoors, and consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.
“Advisories may end, or they may be reissued at times depending on the situation,” says Neil. “Sometimes that smoke is in the area and other times not so, depending on the wind direction and other factors.”
Meanwhile, all of the evacuation orders have been lifted, however parts of the region remain under an alert.
