The provincial government says it rejected funding proposals for hundreds of affordable housing units due to a number of deficiencies.

Last week, the province announced the latest phase of the Affordable Rental Housing Program, green-lighting the development of 344 new units across 33 different sites.

However, Minister Joedy Wall says roughly the same number of proposed units were turned down because the developers’ plans failed to meet government requirements.

“So these projects, for whatever reason, they did not make the cut. So our staff are happy to work with those applicants to make sure that they have good applications coming back. We want to see good applications.” Said Wall, “We want to make sure that we can approve whatever we can so that we can get more units built. If they did not get approved this time, have a look at your application. Our staff will work with them to make sure that we can certainly give any benefit or guidance to them.”
