A registered nurse in the eastern urban zone has been found guilty of conduct deserving of sanction by the regulatory body.

Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services filed a complaint with the College of Nurses against Michelle Boland related to her conduct between September 10, 2024 and December 2, 2024, and again over another one-week period a year later.

Specifically, NLHS was concerned about her practices as it relates to the administration of medication which included the diversion of narcotics when the nurse was on Unit 6 West at St. Clare’s.

The Adjudication Tribunal hearing the case has ordered her licence remain suspended pending the completion of three random drug and alcohol screens done over a 90-day period, and a letter confirming fitness and capacity to return to practice from the treating physician. In addition, Boland must continue counselling.
