The housing minister says he is “very” confident that they will receive interest in a recent RFP to house people currently staying at Horizons 106 in the community, and that things will be set up before the facility closes at the end of the year.
The provincial government recently issued three RFPs, seeking different options for people who require minimal, moderate and 24-hour supportive care.
Joedy Wall says the RFP process will clarify if the infrastructure to provide the housing is already in place, or if it will need to be built.
Wall says some proponents may already have what is needed, otherwise there are levers government can pull for things like funding, if needed.
Whatever the solution, Wall believes it will be in place before December 31st.
Wall addresses what would happen if a solution isn’t in place.
“We’ll deal with that at the time. However, I’m confident with respect to the conversations we’ve had, and the timing with respect to putting out the RFP today, that we will be able to get all individuals housed appropriately with the proper supports.”
