A former registered nurse has surrendered her licence and has been struck from the NL College of Nurses register for breaching the profession’s Code of Ethics and professional misconduct.

A complaint against Sarah Sullivan, who was working at the GB Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville, was fired by NL Health Services.

The complaints dated to a period between March and July of 2024.

Concerns were raised about Sullivan’s medication administration practices, including altering documentation related to controlled substances, altering medication orders written by physicians, and falsely documenting having administered a controlled substance to a patient.

An agreed statement of facts was accepted by the College’s Adjudication Tribunal. It found Sullivan guilty of conduct deserving of sanction. Her name has been stricken from the College’s register.

She was also ordered to pay partial costs.
