It’s back to class for students in the K-12 system this week and municipalities will be keeping an eye on school zones to make sure everyone is getting through safely.

Mount Pearl mayor Dave Aker says you have a lot of people trying to shuffle through one particular area at the same time – from busses, drop-offs and pedestrians to everyday traffic.

He says municipal enforcement will be out making the rounds to ensure everyone is getting to and from in a safe and efficient manner.

Aker urges drivers to be patient as people get back into their fall routines.

He says with the K-12 and post-secondary school systems back in full swing, there’s going to be more traffic on the go in general. Aker suggests allowing yourself extra time to get where you’re going for the first week or so while everyone settles into the school year.
