This is Foster Families Month across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Foster Families NL says foster and kinship care is more than providing a bed or a roof; it’s about showing up for children, advocating for them, and providing their lives with stability.
They say much of the work that these caregivers do happens quietly and often without recognition, and this month is an opportunity to change that.
The organization states that supporting children means making sure that their caregivers have access to the supports they need, recognizing the expertise of caregivers, listening to those in the system, and strengthening the child welfare system.
