Municipalities across the province now have a better idea about how much they will receive from the $27.4-million in government funding to address the impacts of COVID-19.
The funding is part of the federal government’s Safe Restart Program and is matched on a 50/50 cost-share basis with the province retroactive to April 1st.
Minister Derek Bennett made the announcement yesterday.
He says the funding, in addition to operating grants, is being distributed based on 2016 census data, on a per capita basis.
No applications are required and payments will be processed once the budget is adopted in the House of Assembly.
