Funeral arrangements have been announced for the late Carl Lake who passed away on Wednesday following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Lake was a major personality on the local sports scene, reporting news and sports with VOCM News and on CBC and Rogers television.

He created and hosted the recorded telephone Sports Line that eventually evolved into The Sports Page.

Lake retired in September following 53 years umping for the St. John’s Baseball League.

The funeral services will take place on Saturday, November 21, from Cauls Chapel at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for his first love, the St. John’s Amateur Baseball Association or the St. Bon’s Scholarship Program.
