There’s been another two earthquakes off the coast of Labrador.
A 3.7 magnitude earthquake, centred about six kilometres East-Northeast of Makkovik, struck just before 4 a.m. local time and a 3.5 magnitude earthquake a few minutes later just four kilometres East-Northeast of Makkovik.
That’s now four earthquakes near Makkovik in less than a month and one of a series of quakes in the general area over the last few months.
The Canadian Earthquake centre says quakes of that magnitude are not expected to result in any reports of damage.
Residents who may have felt the tremblor are invited to fill out a questionnaire on the Natural Resources Canada website.
There is no known fault line in the area, but quakes are not uncommon along the coastline where the thick ancient rock of the Canadian Shield meets thinner rock on the ocean floor.
