Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador is launching a new campaign to encourage more people from diverse backgrounds to run in upcoming municipal elections.

The digital storytelling series Make Your Mark provides information about municipal leadership in Newfoundland and Labrador and encourages as many people as possible to participate.

MNL CEO Craig Pollett says Newfoundland and Labrador is a colourful, culturally rich and diverse place, adding it’s crucial that the decisions made at the municipal level are reflective of the people who live and work in those communities.

Diversity advocate Laurabel Mba says if local government doesn’t reflect you or your values, even to a small extent, then it’s hard for one’s issues to be brought to the table.
